SLS Energy (Second Life Storage) was founded in 2021 to close two loops at once: the e-waste loop and the energy-access loop. We do both with the same battery.

How we got here.

From a 5 kWh prototype on a workbench to a circular chain spanning sourcing, testing, deployment and recycling.

2021

Founded in Kigali, Rwanda, with a mission to accelerate access to affordable and sustainable energy through second-life batteries.

2023

Delivered our first commercial deployment at Akagera National Park, demonstrating the viability of repurposed battery energy storage systems.

2024

Expanded to 9 sites across Rwanda and DRC, serving telecom and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers, including healthcare and hospitality facilities.

2025

Scaled to 24 operational sites, strengthening our market presence and proving the scalability of our Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.

2026

Accelerating growth across Rwanda while entering Zambia, marking our first major regional expansion and a key milestone in our Pan-African growth journey.
